Whistler Back In The Saddle
After winning the Olympics and realising that Whistler, B.C. mayhave one of the nicest mountains with some of the best skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing conditions in all of Canada.Whistler has always been a great escape from the everydaywhether you are local or you travel great lengths to get here.It has been consistent and always a rush to go up for a greatski getaway. The last two seasons we have seen a dramaticdifference in the conditions, where did all the snow go? Now allpoints seem to pull toward the massive warming of the earth dueto green air gas emissions and global warming.
I believe the tides are finally changing for our little whistlervillage, with our slopes opening up early and the snow has justkept on going. With the snow going like crazy so early in theseason I can imagine that this is going to be one of whistlersbest seasons in quite some time. So what next? I guess theinflux of snow and the great conditions are going to bring theirfair share of tourists, skiers, snow boarders etc. This meansthat if you are looking for a place to stay when you head in toWhistler Village the time to book is now.
Your next question may be: Well what would be the best bang formy buck. There are a variety of options when you are looking foraccommodations in the busiest spot of the season. When you arelooking for accommodations depending on the length of stay youwant to be more than anything comfortable and lets not kidourselves you want it to be affordable. So lets go over thepossibilities of what kind of accommodations there are availablein Whistler.
Hotels/Motels – Well if you are going to in up one day and outthe next this could be cost effective. The wonderful thing abouthotels is they have a bed, and a bathroom and if your lucky youcould get there dried up continental breakfast, or you couldspend some extra cash and go off to the next greasy spoon andeat your self into a heart attack. Now Im
talking low end herefolks we all know that you can get all the luxuries of home Isuppose in the hotel/motel experience as long as you have thecoin to back it up.
Bed and Breakfasts – Now here is a truly comfortable way totravel in fact it is one of my favourite accommodation methods, you wake up to warm feeling and your breakfast is made for youbefore you step the last step in the kitchen, the conversationis friendly talking to the family that may be hosting or to someother travellers that happen to be passing through. Like I saidmy absolute favourite way to travel with the feeling of comfortand a feeling of home.
Cabin/Condo Rentals – This is a great way to travel is you aretravelling with a group of 5 or more people, I love the feelingof the great outdoors just outside my bedroom and the feeling ofcamaraderie when you are travelling with a few of your closestfriends, and it gives you the feeling that you are camping. Nowif you are not feeling much like your an outdoorsy person andrequire the same luxury of home and with a reasonable budget youcan always rent a condo and live like you never left home.
The choice is really up to you, whether you enjoy hotel livingor you want to feel the comforts of living like you never lefthome in your own condo rental. One thing is for sure, Whistlerhas got their groove back and if you want to catch the bestdeals the time to book is now! Whistler is on the verge of theirbest season and if you wait too long you may miss the boat!
