Do you know that you can promote your home business absolutely free of cost? Moreover you can generate quality traffic of the potential prospects who will come to your site because they are interested in what you sell.

Yes! It can be done absolutely free. And it is fun too.

# Write and publish articles –

This is the best traffic generation method. Write articles centered on the theme of your home business niche and submit them to the article directories. There are thousands of article website that are eager to publish your articles. When you write make it sure that you write an article well. Your article when published will be an unending source of quality traffic.

Your resource box in the end of article will serve as the link to your website. Make your article interesting enough so that the reader reads till the end and is intrigued enough to click the link in the end.

Writing a good article is not that difficult. Think about an idea and expand it. Write as much you can while taking care of the typos and grammatical error. After you finish it close it down and relax. Review it next day for editing. You will be surprised to find the changes you can make to improve your articles.

Search for article directories in Google or Yahoo. Compile your own list and submit to them one by one. Most of article submissions are free. It may take a while when you do itg for the first time as you need to create account with the site before you can submit. After you are through with account creation the whole thing will become an easy process.

A good article is judged by its content. It should be informative enough and of value for the publisher and the reader. Article body as such should not have links nor should it appear to be blatant sales letter. And of course no typos or grammatical error.

# Blog them and receive them-

Open an account with blogger.com. This easy setup doesn’t take more than 15 minutes. Publish this on your site. Now

you own a blog. You are free to write whatever you want. But again the content will draw most readers.

You can put your links in your blog unlike restrictions in your articles. Write anything. About your experience, your problems or what you did today. Anything.

Share your thoughts with the world. More frequently you write more is the traffic. If people like your blog they will visit again. Write at least daily for maximum gain

# Free e-book -

Write a report on what you know or about your business. Make an e-book out of that report. PDF books are easy to create and they can be created free at adobe.com without any purchase or liability of purchase. Post that e-book on your and your partners’ site.

Mention that people if interested can post it on there site for free. When customer loads it he will visit to your site by the contained link. When your e-book is distributed enough it will bring in substantial traffic

# Acquire links –

There are millions of websites. Just imagine if you have your links posted on 1000 sites out of them. Considering 1/10 click through rate you will receive at least 100 visitors per day considering one visitor per site. Do the math and think!

More links you have more are the chances of getting visitors.

Getting link is very easy now with free dedicated services being available like linkmarket.net. You just need to open an account and there you go for a link ride. One word of caution though. Exchange links with sites similar to your own business. And avoid link farms.

If you are persistent with above methods you will see a consistent jump in the traffic over 4 – 6 months traffic and a better ranking in the search engines

Good luck. It is time for some work now

http://PrivacyNotes.com/privacy_blog/

As a search engine optimization specialist, I often run across
search engines of different sorts than most people are aware of.
This week I stumbled across a free site that is used by journal-
ists to do background checks and fact checking on sources of news
stories. I am also an advocate for personal and financial privacy
and find privacy invasion particularly offensive, so this search
engine offends me.

The http://www.pretrieve.com/ Free Public Record Search Engine –
Person Search is an example of the databasification of all public
records. Its instructive to take a look at the results of a
search for yourself in this free people search engine that is
apparently used often by journalists. The linked page above
takes you to the site home page which is a form allowing you to
search for a person, business, address or phone number and the
results pages can be frightening.

The results are listed as questions on the Pretrieve.com site in
a row of tabs labeled “Property Info, Criminal, Court,
Professional, Local Info, Miscellaneous” and the “Criminal” tab
(Criminal) inserts your name or that of the person you are
searching for in each possible source of criminal information
under a link labeled “Registered Sex Offender Search” then a
question with the searched name and state inserted: “Is anyone
named (your name here) a registered sex offender in “your state
here”? If you searched for your own name, it appears in that
frightening position and startles you quite handily.

The arrangement of tabs with criminal info first must be done for
the dramatic effect it has on what would otherwise be a rather
mundane search of bland information. But when I went ahead and
pressed that frightening link, I got a gratifying “no information
could be found” result page. Whew! Then again on the link leading
to the “Federal Inmate Search” I got a gratifying “Sorry. No
Inmate Named (Your name here) Race: unspecified Sex: unspecified
found.” on the new window launched on the Federal “Bureau of
Prisons” site search.

Since I write frequently online, there are hundreds of sources of
information on me available in one of the results tabs labled
“professional”, I was happy to see that my occupation was
correctly listed as “Search Engine Optimization Specialist” with
sources coming mainly from resource boxes of my articles
appearing across the web.

The interface of the Pretrieve.com result page also links you to
organizations that have published information about you and fills
in the name information, going directly to a search on the name
entered at the new site. The interface of Pretrieve.com links you
to their sources by launching new windows at different web sites
and prepopulating the search forms with the name and state info.

The “professional” affiliations are tracked by a site called

“Eliyon.com Business People Search” where links to web mentions
are tied to the byline of my articles. Seems their forte is
finding business mentions to connect with names. OK. But I was
surprised to see that one company that I work with was
incorrectly listed as being in Northern California, when they are
in fact in Southern California. Oh, and they incorrectly named,
but correctly linked to the web site of that company.

This type of error is probably common in online databases and is
one of the biggest problems with this type of data aggregation.
It is not kept current or accurate by all sources and there are
others with the same name, etc. There is a prominent link on the
Eliyon.com site labeled “Log in to Update your Profile” or the
Didnt find yourself? Add your profile!” link is ridiculous.
Why give them info they dont have so they give it to everyone
else?

The Property Info tab is truly offensive as it gives you a link
to the county tax assessors office record of any property owned
by someone youve searched for. Plus their home address, square
footage of their house, how much it is worth and amount of taxes
owed on it. Oh, and phone number, street address, zip code.

The multiple other options take you to financial records such as
bankruptcy filings, political contributions, defaulted loans and
dozens of other possible financial records you dont want the
world to see. Why is this acceptable – and the bigger question –
why is this legal?

A very interesting note comes from the Pretrieve.com privacy page
where they make this curious statement: “It may seem contrary for
a company dedicated to making public information more easily
accessible to be an ardent supporter of information privacy, but
the fact is we take information privacy rights extremely
seriously. We believe public information should be open and made
available to everyone as adamantly as we believe private
information should remain private.”

But doesnt making all sources of public information easily
available, make possible private information easily available
along with it? Actually, this only applies to informaiton
directly available on the pretrieve site, which is nothing other
than your computer and connection info as they dont require
registration to use their service. They do place cookies on your
hard drive so the site will not work if you turn off that option
in your browser. The information business seems to be full of
contradictions.

You are only as good as your PR!!

Imagine a situation where you have started a great site with exceptional design and high quality content. Your pagerank of course is zero and you alexa traffic rank is somewhere in the 18th lack or perhaps more. You want to bring visitors to your site and hence want it included in the search results but the search bots are taking their own time caching your site. Finally the googlebot caches your site and you say, what the heck, I am through. But to your dismay you find your site way deep down even for a non competitive keyword.

You feel a bit down but have the belief that getting some quality inbound links will solve the issue. You start reaching sites with your link request but alas no one seems to be answering. Of course they want a link from a site having a good PR and not with a site having a PR of zero irrespective of the quality. In fact quality just doesnt seem to matter in todays internet which is all but pagerank. If your site has a good page rank you are the king or else no one is ever going to bother about you.

So the only option left before you now is to get links from directories, blogs, forums etc. and hope for the best. You do your best and wait for a PR update. After months of waiting the PR updates do happen but your pages get no more than PR3. You feel great about it though thinking something is better than nothing. Now again you approach sites for a link exchange but to your sheer disappointment find that good sites never respond to you. All you seem to be getting are links from relatively unknown and low quality sites. You develop hundreds of low quality links and wait for the next PR update which seems an eternity to arrive. You have strong faith that for all those links you established your site will surely get a higer PR, but nothing of that sort happens. Your PR increases but not more than PR4. Then you realize that PR

is exponential in nature. God forbid, you feel like cursing the PR system but you are left with no choice but to continue racing against the odds to get links. You become a link maniac getting links from all corners of the internet; after some time you realize that you are spending considerable amount of time getting inbound links and almost negligible amount of time on your website. You have not updated content for months now and your visitors are starting to turn away from your site.

One fine day you read an article that google has started penalzing sites that resort to getting unnatural links with an objective to cheat its ranking system. A few sweat drops escape from your face as you realize you have been spamming guestbooks and giving links to link farms. You also find you have cross linked with many sites actively taking part in link farms. You also find that you have got links from free for all sites. All these can lead you into trouble so in a frenzy you start removing links to those sites after mailing them and explaining them the reason. Finally the PR update happens and you get a PR of 5. You have entered the land of the lords now and you escaped getting penalized. You think, what a heap load of hardwork getting a quality site to rank, I wonder how these junk sites make it to the top?. And ask yourself a question, Is a site only as good as its PR?? or Is the internet only meant for big shots who can invest considerable amount of time and money on optimization?. The answer to this is probably yes which you gulp down with a pinch of salt.

Hows your business activities coming along? If youre not up to your eyeballs in new customers and new downline agents, consistently, every week, then let me ask some questions:

Do you understand what it could mean for you, financially, if you just consistently gathered one new agent and one new customer every week?

Do you understand what products and services you have to offer?

Do you understand your business opportunity well enough to be able to explain it to a friend or neighbor that might be interested in making some extra money, “if the right business opportunity came along”?

Do you understand what it can mean for you, financially, to recruit new agents and help them become successful?

Do you understand the benefits of working your business to get promoted to the first promotional level, and helping your downline agents to understand it too?

If your answer to any of the above is “no”, and youre not taking steps to correct it, then let me ask another question, compliments of Dr Phil:

So hows that workin for ya?

In other words, if what youre doing now is not getting you to where you want to be, uh, is it time to do things differently? If you keep doing what youve been doing, are you going to be where you want to be in 2, 3, or even 5 years?

Ok, didnt mean to throw a guilt trip on you, but its something that we all need to be aware of, myself readily included. One of the things we all need to remember is that no money is made if we dont sell products and services. I hope this is obvious to you, but I actually got an email a few months back from one of my downline agents asking why he hadnt gotten a commission check yet. Looking into it, he had ZERO customers. Uh….

As far as recruiting new agents, its really a two-step process. One is to recruit them, the second and equally important step is to help them understand what needs to happen for them to start getting a commission check. Get them plugged into training calls, online classrooms, introduce them to their upline, and ask your upline for help if you need to. Remember, for each agent that you add to your downline, you get commission on each customer they

gather, as well as the customers of the new agents THEY gather, as well as the customers of the agents they gather, etc … all the way down for multiple levels.

Now remember, you dont want to recruit new agents just for the sake of recruiting because that gets you nothing An agent in your downline who gets ZERO customers is no good to you, or to themselves. You probably have some agents who have a very respectable number of agents in their entire downline organization … but if you look at their reports, youll see more zeros than my last class reunion!

If you recruit motivated people who have a desire to succeed, as well as helping them to get started (even if its just keeping in touch with them and getting them plugged into the trainings and help resources that are readily available), you can begin to build an organization that you can be proud of, and that will be creating a revenue stream for you.

Back to the title for this diatribe, I just gotta tell you that YOU AINT SEEN NOTHIN YET. The Network Marketing industry is here to stay. Although likely to evolve more…the industry can only get stronger. Why? Because it makes sense….and WORKS if YOU work. Plus its the one true option to escape the J.O.B. for anyone willing.

At this point, youve got a fabulous set of products and services that you can market and sell at extremely competitive pricing, and receive impressive commissions (of course….depending on the company youve chosen to align yourself with).

My encouragement to you is that if youve started building your business, thats fantastic and keep at it. If youre new or havent really started yet, now would be an excellent time to position yourself with downline agents and new customers, because youre gonna just LOVE it when you see whats coming. Optimistic?? Guilty as charged. Why? Well….why not??

If you understand and realize that its GREAT right now…

You aint seen nothin yet.

http://RealitySEO.com

It seems I now do this rant every single year when traffic
statistics are discussed in web industry news. Last week I
posted to my Reality SEO blog that referred traffic numbers are
the only statistic that webmasters should be concerned about when
looking at their search engine rank. I wrote about this last year
after ComScore Media Metrics statistics were relased discussing
Search Engine Queries generated by each search property.
http://searchengineoptimism.com/Google_refers_70_percent.html

In that article, I suggested to Micorsoft as they developed
their own search technology that MSN search might consider
resisting the urge to keep searchers on their site by plastering
both PPC and “Sponsored Sites” above and below search results.
Google displays two “Sponsored Links” above organic results and
none below, along with Adwords ads along the right column.

Well now that MSN search has made its official debut, we can see
that they put three “Sponsored Sites” links both above AND below
their organic search results, along with those Overture (Soon to
be Yahoo Branded) PPC ads along the right side of the page. Not
bad visually, but it appears to be keeping visitors on the MSN
search site because they simply are NOT clicking through to
highly ranked sites according to closely watched traffic
statistics of several sites I monitor for clients.

Ive been pouring over web stats for a half dozen clients
looking for traffic from MSN and it is missing in action. Even
though these sites rank well for targeted terms for my clients –
MSN is not delivering the traffic at all.

This has always been an issue for SEOs and their clients and we
are puzzling this one over, looking for results from those top
rankings at both Yahoo and MSN as they seem to retain the
searchers no matter how well we rank the sites!

Yahoo has dropped dramatically, with referred traffic that used
to amount to over 5% of the visitors to client sites, it has
dropped as low as 1.5% of total referred traffic from search
engines. After a recent increase in referred traffic from Yahoo
search, we were hopeful it would stay high, but it wasnt to be.
Rankings have not declined – Read That Again – Rankings have not
declined, just the referred traffic!

Google has gone up in referrals from foreign countries, including
foreign language sites. We used to see tiny amounts of traffic
trickle in from non-English language countries, but Google
country sites for Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, Spain,
Mexico and a dozen other language specific Googles have combined
to send more non-English referred traffic than the total coming
from (English) Yahoo Search!

The search world is getting very odd when great rankings at Yahoo
and MSN dont

equal referred traffic. This has always been the
case to a degree, but is getting extreme and very disturbing.
Google has always sent more traffic, with as much as 85% of
referred search traffic coming from English Speaking Google
variants in US, Canada, India, New Zealand, Australia, and UK
sending more traffic than both the US Yahoo and MSN.

What is the value of top rankings in MSN and Yahoo if those top
positions dont bring traffic?

Zippo, NONE are coming from MSN Search even though we are better
ranked in several important search phrases for client sites at
MSN that at Google! This is serious and its a problem that we
must resolve. “Searches performed” statistics, like those
exhaustively researched by Bill Platt in a recent article
are absolutely meaningless if searchers dont click through to
top ranking sites! What does this mean?
http://realityseo.com/2005/03/day-internet-search-engines-stopped.html

Even though I write a similar article each year, discuss this
topic on large discussion lists and mention it regularly in my
Reality SEO blog, I have yet to get honest answers from search
engine representatives at Yahoo or MSN. I did get a couple of
Yahoo Search managers to admit that more visitors stay on the
Yahoo site and continue to either PPC ads or to other Yahoo links
because “There is more of value to the searcher at Yahoo.” What
is of more value to a searcher than relevant search results?

I gave those Yahoos access to my traffic statistics and those of
clients so they could see that nearly 70% of my traffic and that
of clients was coming from Google – EVEN WHEN THOSE SAME SITES
RANKED HIGHLY IN SEARCHES AT YAHOO! No comment and no
explanations as to why, when they generate huge numbers of search
queries, that far fewer visitors click through from Yahoo search
results than do from Google search results.

One must assume that someone searching for something visits at
least a few of the sites that appear in the list of search
results, no? They sure do visit from Google in significant
numbers – consistently. But both Yahoo and MSN Search are failing
to send referred search traffic to sites ranked highly in
their search results. Why?

I highly recommend that all webmasters with access to statistics for
their own site look seriously at your traffic referred by Yahoo & MSN
for search phrases you rank well on. Do YOU have traffic referred by
Yahoo or MSN Search for your high ranking search phrases. Why not?

Your Business Story In Leading Blogs And Article DirectoriesWill Yield High Traffic in Hundreds of Thousands of Visitors

The whole world loves a good story well told. Thats the realsecret behind that best seller novel and that box-office smashhit movie. This deep human hunger for a good story has remainedunchanged despite unprecedented technological advances.

If anything recent technological advances like the World WideWeb have only served to greatly increase the worlds appetitefor a good story.

Now imagine for a moment the story of your online business beingspun into a best-selling yarn? There is little doubt that such astory would change your life. Yet that rags to riches Cinderellastory of your online business is extremely easy to get publishedand get told with the objective of breaking all high trafficrecords to your site or blog. Thanks mainly to the World WideWeb and the doors it has opened wide.

This article that you are reading is an amazing rags-to-richesCinderella story of how peoples lives have been changed and howyours too can be transformed when you grasp the simple truth orsecret about the power behind telling the story of your businessin an article.

In other words merging content with an advertising message insuch a way that the article does not look like an advertisementor promotion in any way is the most powerful marketing weaponany online business can use.

Remember the offline days when a brief article in the newspaperabout a small business had such an impact that the businesswould no longer handle the clients that came their way? Rememberthe impact that a very brief mention of a business in the primetime news bulletin can have? The response that a mention in theeditorial columns of a newspaper or magazine yields, has alwaysbeen much higher and much bigger than the impact or responsefrom an advertisement in the very same publication. This is thepower of merging content with a marketing message which is whatPR professionals and spin doctors get paid thousands of dollarsto do.

The net makes it very easy for anybody to creatively mergecaptivating content with their ad message and get their usefularticle published on a high traffic site somewhere.

Where To Tell Your Story For Huge Profit

What does a best-selling book or box-office smash hit movie havein

common? Answer; a huge audience. Publishing anything onlineis the easiest thing in the world, but what you really need is ahuge audience for your story. Getting this huge audience isactually much easier than you think. All you really need to dois use other peoples high traffic sites and suddenly, you haveyour huge audience.

For the purposes of this article, we will show you how to usetwo high traffic types of sites that will guarantee your articleor story a huge potential audience. Namely a couple ofhigh-traffic blogs and 10 high traffic article directories.

What Your Story/Article Must Do

Before we go into great detail about the specific sites whereyou should publish your story and the possible impact each ofthe top 10 sites will have on your business, we need tounderstand one very important truth in all this. Publishing yourstory at a high traffic site will not automatically give yourstory a huge audience. Just like publishing your novel is noguarantee that it will be a best seller.

So in order to get a huge audience for your published article,it must have the ingredients of a best seller. Then it must tellthe story of your business so convincingly that most readerswill be eager to visit your site or to get their hands onanything else that you have to say.

One recent article at a popular article directory had hitsnearing 100,000 within a very short time. There is no doubt thatthat article was a best-seller. So what we need to seriouslyexamine here, is what the ingredients of that article were orwhat makes a best-seller.

Once you know what makes a best-seller and are able tocreatively merge useful content and your ad message into anarticle, the sky is the limit as to what sort of response ortraffic that you can generate to your site.

What makes this best-seller game even more exciting online isthat you can try to create a “best seller” every day or severaltimes a day until you hit pay dirt. Most new writers or moviemakers have only one chance.

Starting a home-based business on the Internet is easy you say.
You have your web page built, your affiliate links and youre
ready to go. Not really, you need to make sure you have all your
is and ts crossed when it comes to taxes.

Getting Started

First, you will need to register your business name with
the city government. When I registered my business name with the
city I was charged $11 — so expect to pay a small fee when filing
this legal document with your local goverment.

Second, you need to apply for an Employer Identification
Number with the Department of the Treasury (IRS). To file for an EIN,
you will need to complete Form SS-4. You can find these forms
in post offices, public libraries, online, or by contacting the IRS.

Once you receive this document, keep it in a safe place — in other
words, dont crumple, stomp, or throw away — this identifies you
and your business with the U.S. government and you will need this number
when you file your taxes.

Third, you will need to check with your state government to determine
if you need any specific licenses. Such as Retail Sales Tax Permit –
if you are planning on selling items offline or online.

Fourth, you may want to open a Business Account at your local bank
once the money starts to roll in. Keeping your money separate from
your family account — helps you to keep your accounting accurate
for your business.

What percentage of your income will go to
your State and Federal Government?

You will need to pay the following taxes, at the following rate,
on a quarterly basis:

States Taxes — 3.7%
Federal Taxes — 11.3%
Social Security — 12.4%
Medicare — 2.9%

The first year in business is difficult, because you have no idea
what you will be making–You will need to make a conservative guess.
However, you will only pay what you owe against that of your
expenses (your net income). For example, if you believe you will have
$3000 in expenses during the year — and you believe in your first year,
you will make $6000– you would report the following:

$6000 (Money Made)- $3000 (Expenses) = $3000 (What you owe)

This amount would be divided among the four quarters within the year
and paid to your State Government and the Federal Government.
If you find that you will be making more and you have paid
in for one quarter — you will have to adjust the balance
and divid it between the remaining quarters.

The following is what you will submit to the Federal Government:
1) Federal Taxes-11.3%, 2) Social Security-12.4%, and 3) Medicare
payment-2.9%.

The State Government will receive only the 3.7% of your net
earned income.

(Please note: If you are unsure about anything, you should enlist the
help of a CPA, regarding tax

matters).

Your estimated taxes are due on the following dates
throughout the year:

April 15
June 15
September 15
January 15

To obtain more specific information you can read IRS
Publication 505: Estimated Tax payments.

Note: You are not required to make estimated tax payments
until you have income not subject to withholding
on which you will owe tax. If you dont make
your first payment until a later period, you
must divide your entire estimated tax by the
number of payment dates remaining. If, for example, you
have three payment dates pending, you would pay one third
of the total tax by June 15, the other third by
September 15 and the last by January 15.

Typical Expenses To Deduct

Here is a list of some of the expenses you can deduct.

1. Your home mortgage — If you use a room solely for
conducting business then you can take this deduction.
There are a couple of different formulas to determine
the percentage of your home that is used for your business.

You can use the “number of rooms” method or the “area method”.
I would suggest using the “area method” because I cant imagine
having a home where all the rooms are the same size.

With the area method, you would take the area of your home
office divided by the area of your home. Example:

Your Office= 10 X 10 = 100 square feet
YOur home is 1000 square feet
Your deduction = 100/1000 or 10%

2. Indirect Expenses — with indirect expenses you will only
be able to deduct the area percentage (Note: use area percentage
calculated above) of the total cost. These indirect expenses
would include such things as:

House payment
Utilites
Telephone
Garbage collection
Internet connection (If other people are using the Intenet)

3. Direct Expenses — these are expenses that relate only to your
business.

Supplies
Advertising
Business account bank charges

Keeping Track of Expenses

To keep track of all your expenses. and you are comfortable working
with a spreadsheet software, I would suggest purchasing a small
business accounting package such as QuickBooks or Peachtree
Accounting.

To conclude, this definitely is not an exhaustive list of
what you need to know. However, this will give
you a beginning as to what you will have to be aware
of when starting a home-based business. As your
business grows, your CPA will be able to assist
you and keep you on the straight and narrow to your
success on the Internet.

In order to tap the huge stream of targeted traffic an internet search engine can provide a website you need to master a few common sense principles when crafting your webpages.

You can rest assured no sites receive top search engine rankings by chance in competitive keyword markets. They spend time and money to acquire and maintain their search engine positioning. Targeting your keyword market precisely and applying the principles in this article will help you compete in any keyword marketplace.

When crafting your web pages for the search engines remember that a search engine spider is not human. They only read the html code for your website, they do not actually “see” what your site looks like.

1. Use static html pages not dynamically generated web pages wherever you can. Some dynamically created WebPages are not indexable by the search engines. If they can’t index your pages you might as well not exist no matter how useful your website might be.

2. Use your main keywords in meta “title” tag, meta “description” tag, and meta “keywords” tags,

3. Use your keywords in the first line of your web page “body” and within “header” tags throughout your html document. Use “bolding” of keywords where appropriate. Using your keywords within bold and header tags makes them stand out as important. Also having them near the beginning of your web page is also an indicator of importance in the search engine’s eyes.

4. Use your keywords in img “alt” and link “title” tags. These tags don’t show up as visible text but they can help give a search engine a better idea of what your link is about. Resist the urge to stuff a lot of keywords into these tags but definitely use them to your advantage and place a select few of your most important keywords in there.

5.

Dont use a lot of tables in your html. Use css style sheets to store webpage “style” definitions if you can. Storing style information in Css reduces the overall size of your WebPages considerably allowing them to load much faster.

6. Dont use a lot of outbound or affiliate links within your webpage. Keep your web pages focused on providing content first, not making money. . Search Engine’s don’t like WebPages that are just filled with affiliate links and banners. These pages have little or no content and do not score well because of this.

7. Maintain a high “visible text: graphics” ratio on your webpage. This is a similar idea to 6 plus your pages will load faster with less graphics on them.

8. Repeat your major keyword phrases near the end of your webpage in a sentence with the keywords bolded. Optionally place a short sentence in a header tag.

After you have created your webpage and applied these principles upload the page to your web host and visit the following URL to analyze your work:

It seems that the VERY popular fashion of article writing is not unlike real world clothing fashion in that; the same things keep coming around with seasonal regularity. In fact, more so with the fast paced development of the ‘home business’ or ‘work at home’ article topic conveyor.

I’m probably guilty of the above for writing on this specific subject itself, having seen a few others lament the continual rehashing of the ’same ol’, same ol’. Although in my defense, today’s comment is not so much the same lamentation but, in my eyes at least, an attempt to put the record straight about a specific subject, of which I’ve read far too many articles about recently.

To be fair, I’m sure only good intentions (and a need for something to write about) are responsible for the latest round of ‘Affiliate marketing is simple’ and ‘You’ll be earning online in no time as an Affiliate’ type articles. In so many of these articles, Affiliate marketing is touted as the ‘way to go’ for anyone who has a website (or EVEN NOT, which is rubbish for all but a few).

I currently run seven Affiliate websites, recently ‘trimmed down’ from twelve because of the amount of time involved in all that was required to keep each website competitive in the Search Engines and interesting to visitors, both new and returning, chasing PR and generally maintaining what have become known as affiliate content websites.

Some merchants supply complete website templates, which are helpful, provided you have total SEO control, but even so, they are not generally well packed with content and certainly they dont have ready to go RSS feeds, news updates, blogs and articles etc. So even though, as I said, they do help, there is still much to be done initially and maintained continually to end up with a comprehensive, interesting and SE friendly Affiliate website.

I had to trim down my activities simply because, even though I am fortunate enough to be a full time Internet home businessperson, I did not have the time to keep that number of websites producing viable ‘income for effort’. When you consider the amount of work involved in just one affiliate content website, I’m sure most will understand why I have had to ’streamline’. At the same time, I hope a realization of the effort and time involved will also become apparent.

Of course, before we even start any of the following, we assume we have the ability to build our own websites with a degree of professionalism and functionality, templates aside. Without these two aspects at least, anyone who does visit, will leave shortly after. For the sake of the exercise, we have magically received the knowledge and experience to achieve this. overnight!

Our website will need to be nurtured through a period of at least 3 – 6 months of little or no activity (unless we also happen to be, again miraculously, well versed, experienced, and game enough to throw money at PPC engines). During this period we will be setting up and making use of the advantages of RSS feeds, blogs, content articles (both other’s and hopefully, some of our own). We’ll be updating and changing things almost daily in order to achieve some targeted traffic through the SEs, when we’re finally out of the ’sandboxes’ etc.

While this is all coming together, we’re spending a lot of time on a link exchange program (not so much for

PR, but because back links are an important component in the SE results). This needs to be done manually because the automatic programs do more harm to a website’s SE chances than help (but that’s another article!).

Slowly, our website is gaining some targeted traffic, the only kind of any use to an Affiliate website. We may even have managed a few sales, provided we have, again miraculously overnight, become confident and made good choices of Affiliate programs and products around which we have built and nurtured our website.

The traffic and occasional sale, although exciting to the ‘first-timer’ serve only to create more time consuming work. These ‘hits’, as we call them, need to be analyzed. We need to know where they came from, what particular promotional method brought them to us, what part of the world they originated, the referring URL if any and so on, so we can concentrate our efforts in the right places and forego those which don’t seem to be successful.

No serious Affiliate relies on a single product or program for an income. We all know about the security and sense in ‘multiple income streams’? Well, the concept is a very important aspect in Affiliate marketing., so this ONE website we’ve just managed to bring to a point where it MAY BEGIN paying for some of the time effort and expense involved in it’s inception, really needs to be one of a number for an Affiliate to hope to became self-sufficient through Affiliate marketing.

Of course, luck plays it’s role in all things and some do make good quickly and sometimes, one product or program WILL be sufficient for the desired income. Maybe, with some, the whole exercise is more a hobby or interest and a little pocket money to pay costs is all thats wanted. These are all personal aspects, which are of no consequence. We’re talking about people who are being told how easy it is to become an Affiliate for income purposes.

Having now totally destroyed the Affiliate dreams of thousands, I will now say that it IS a marvelous Internet home business model and you can start and progress to the point where you are making some income, without spending very much at all. In fact, the only outlay that is absolutely necessary, in my opinion, is the domain and hosting for your website. In that respect, Affiliate marketing is TRULY the no-risk home based business model.

Still again, there is much to know about the domain and hosting aspect of the preparation, which will have consequences if not considered correctly, before we even think about what I have spoken about above.

Do yourself a favor if you’re relatively unfamiliar with Affiliate marketing or even halfway there, get the right advice from the right sources. The right sources are people who have been, and/or are doing it themselves and aren’t afraid to explain that it’s not all that EASY, but certainly possible for those who really WANT the work at home dream for themselves and their families.
